1. SYSTEM

With the current large-scale thermal modernisation of existing buildings, BSP System has developed an innovative BSP KWRO rod substructure system for fastening ventilated facades, in a hook system. This system enables direct anchoring in the building structure without the need to remove and supplement fragments of existing thermal insulation. This makes the installation of a new layer of facade much faster and easier. The BSP KWRO system is also used for standard fastening of ventilated facades on new buildings.

The system consists of steel threaded rods anchored directly in the substrate, BSP KWE aluminium mounting consoles and BSP KCO aluminium profiles. All aluminium elements of the BSP KWRO system are manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy EN AW 6060 T66 or EN AW 6063 T6.

  1. RODS

The length of the rods depends on the elevation extension. Their diameters are selected based on static calculations depending on the forces acting on the substructure. For load-bearing rods that transfer vertical loads from the weight of the elevation and horizontal loads from wind suction and pressure, a diameter of 10 or 12 mm is used. For rods that transfer only horizontal forces, a diameter of 8 mm is standardly used. In the case of large vertical loads, one load-bearing rod can be anchored at an angle, which significantly increases the strength of the entire system.

  1. CONSOLES AND PROFILES

The BSP KWE mounting console is screwed onto the rod through two central walls with threaded holes. Fastening through two walls ensures appropriate stiffening of the connection of two elements. A BSP KCO profile with a 40 mm wide front wall is inserted into the console, used as a support for the central part of the elevation panel. The profiles have special sockets for mounting seals and rail guides for mounting the catches, thanks to which they are all mounted straight. In addition, the guides provide additional protection against pulling the catches out of the profiles. The walls of the BSP KWE console are inclined towards each other at a slight angle, clamping the inserted profile and keeping it in the designated position without the need to use additional clamps. This significantly facilitates the setting of the substructure plane. After setting the plane, the profiles are attached to the BSP KWE consoles using self-drilling screws.

  1. CLIPS

The BSP KC3 clips are single extreme clips used to attach panels at the lower and upper edges of the elevation. On the other hand The BSP KC4 clips are double intermediate clips used to attach panels in the central part of the elevation. The clips have a special groove adapted to the BSP KCT and KCL profile guides. They also have sockets for mounting gaskets that displace the panels and are equipped with self-adhesive gaskets that prevent direct contact between glass and aluminium. The standard width of the clips is 34 mm. Due to the visible part of the clips, they can be powder coated in any colour. The hooks are attached to the profiles using stainless steel self-drilling screws with a diameter of no less than 5.5 mm or stainless steel screws with a diameter of no less than M6. The exact type of fastener should be selected using static calculations.

  1. GENERAL

The BSP KWRO rod system is a passive solution and, unlike standard substructures with the use of consoles, it is characterized by a very low point heat transfer coefficient, while the linear heat transfer coefficient caused by inserting the profile into the thermal insulation layer does not occur at all. Additional advantages of this system include the use of the same elements regardless of the extension, which is practically unlimited, as well as the coaxial action of the wind pressure and suction force to the anchoring force, which has a positive effect on its strength.

All elements of the BSP aluminum substructure are characterized by durability class B according to the PN-EN 1999-1-1:2011 standard and can be used without protective coatings in environments with atmospheric corrosivity category C1, C2 and C3 according to the PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001 standard. After additional protective treatment – anodizing – they can also be used in environments with atmospheric corrosivity category C4 and C5. Aluminum elements of the BSP substructure are classified in the scope of reaction to fire without testing in class A1 according to the PN-EN 13501-1+A1:2010 standard based on the decisions of the European Commission no. 96/603/EC, 2000/605/EC and 2003/424/WE.

The KWRO BSP substructure system should be installed on the basis of a workshop project prepared by designers with appropriate knowledge in the field of construction and building. The layout of the substructure and the density of elements (strength of the entire system) should be confirmed by static calculations prepared by a designer with qualifications in the field of construction.
